Internships

Through our Internship program, we have helped broaden industry knowledge for students in Marketing, Communications, and PR, as well as Accounting, Statistics and Software Development.

Media Link has hosted over 100 interns over the years. The company is recognized as an International Internship provider through CIEE: Council on International Educational Exchange.

We are more than just an “Ad Agency”. Our Interns receive hands-on experience working within many areas of our company for local, regional and national clients. For one, we have extensive experience working with the news media through regional and national public relations and media outreach.  Area politicians tell us we are the only agency in the area with direct newsroom experience. Traditional education meets modern technology. Our marketing firm developed its own proprietary media buying software, Media Link Software™.  In August 2011, we began marketing this product to other advertising agencies and other large media buyers nationwide. Our Interns are given opportunities to work directly within this software, lending them insight in the science of planning, implementation and post-campaign analysis.

Media Link is one of the four marketing firms in the State of Illinois and the only marketing firm in the State of Iowa certified as an 8(a) SDB woman-owned small business. Intern Qualifications

We seek a detail-oriented college student who is majoring in advertising, marketing, public relations, journalism, communications or a related field. Interns should be able to commit 10-15 hours per week when Media Link is open, Monday-Friday, 8am – 5pm.  Interns must complete 144 hours of work. This includes a mandatory weekly on-on-one progress meeting with our Internship Coordinator, which ensures they get the most out of their experience. Interns are also accountable for individual projects, which we assign and track. We provide copies of completed projects for that intern’s portfolio.

Intern Responsibilities

Media Link Marketing Intern responsibilities include a number of the following tasks:

  • Compiling media buys in all forms
  • Formulating news releases
  • Following up with the news media
  • Developing slogans
  • Assisting with marketing analyses
  • Checking media buy affidavits
  • Developing presentations for clients
  • Assisting with video shoots

This is an unpaid internship, however, all internship-related expenses and gas are paid for by Media Link, Inc.
