Media Link is thrilled to announce we have a new Marketing Specialist. Welcome to the team, Jessica!
Jessica Beshears is a Rock Island resident living with her partner, Benjamin, and their baby cat, Xiaomao. She grew up outside of Milan, IL before going to the East Coast to earn her Associate’s of Arts Degree. She moved back home in 2016 to be near her family and better sunrises (“it’s all the methane”). She finished her BA at St. Ambrose University with a Degree in Art History and minors in Art and Museum Studies in the winter of 2019. She wrote pieces for the permanent Women in Horticulture exhibit at the Quad City Botanical Gardens, presented two separate essays in historical conferences, and worked as an intern for both the German American Heritage Center and the Figge Art Museum.
During lockdown, she became a substitute teacher for the Rock Island-Milan School District to help alleviate some of the teacher shortage issues and continued to do so for two fun, chaotic years. Since then, she has produced two solo exhibitions, two group exhibitions, and a piece published in the art companion for the Fifth National Climate Assessment. She’s also participated in a handful of craft fairs, designed album covers and stickers, and helped create the front cover and promotional materials for the launch of the Ope! Zine.
To make better use of her design and communication skills, she pivoted into marketing in April 2023. While searching for a position that could offer a more positive and a progressive work environment, she met Natalie and happily joined the team as a Marketing Specialist. She loves being part of a team and having a less traditional office space, which Jessica says, “helps us to really communicate and make great content quickly and cohesively.” She also enjoys being able to help clients through a wide range of knowledge while being able to use her creative skills on a daily basis.
