8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business Certification (SBA)

This status is part of a business development program administered by the Small Business Administration (SBA), an agency charged with supporting the growth and development of small businesses. Most government agencies are required to award a specific proportion of contracts to 8(a) firms.

Woman Business Enterprise (WBE)

The intent of this program is to encourage government entities to utilize women-owned firms at a higher level in both the number of firms awarded contracts and the dollar amounts awarded to them.

Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) Certification

WOSB certified businesses are small businesses as defined by the applicable NAICS code and are at least 51% directly owned and controlled by one or more women. This program allows agencies to set aside contracts specifically for WOSBs.

Illinois Department of Central Management Services, BEP, FBE, MAFBE

Illinois Business Enterprise Program firms are owned by disadvantaged business owners. The BEP is for businesses owned by minorities, women, and persons with disabilities to create an inclusive and competitive business environment by helping these businesses increase their capacity, grow revenue, and enhance credentials.

Illinois DOT DBE & Iowa DOT DBE

Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, through the Department of Transportation, in Iowa and Illinois, are at least 51% owned by socially and economically disadvantaged business owners. This certification allows state agencies to identify and support disadvantaged businesses in the procurement process.
